Tree Physicians:
Over the last several years Tim and his team of tree care professionals have saved thousands of beautiful trees from tree health issues such as Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), and other infestations and diseases impacting tree health in the Greater Cincinnati tree service area.
Emerald Ash Borer:
Even with devastating infestations such as the Emerald Ash Borer, there is hope.
When the news first broke, Tim Back realized that Ohio might be the next state targeted by the Emerald Ash Borer. He flew to the northern states, such as Michigan, to see first hand the devastation wrought by the Emerald Ash Borer.
At first, government sources enforced eradication programs, recommending cutting down and burning all ash trees within a half mile of an infestation discovery. It was a sad sight to see municipalities lose the mature trees that once graced their streets and parks. But this solution failed to stop the rapid spread of the Emerald Ash Borer.
Through personal research and a passion to save the ash trees, Tim learned of a formulation that was tested by the University of Michigan and was about to be approved by governmental authorities. In a research environment, this formulation proved to be effective against the Emerald Ash Borer on ash trees (genus Fraxinus).
Getting the right formulation to combat the Emerald Ash Borer was the first step to successful tree health. The next step was to develop a superior delivery system. Pete Wild was inspired to develop the ArborJet delivery system by observing how doctors inoculate humans against diseases.
Tim Back jumped in a plane and flew to Michigan to see the results first hand. He was amazed. There, in a devastated forest, was a beautiful grove of healthy ash trees. These trees had been treated with the ArborJet trunk injection delivery system.
Knowing that a healthy root system and food was fundamental for plant health, Back Tree Service technicians and ISA Certified Arborists, combined their Pneumatic Vertical Mulching system with ArborJet’s TREE-äge system to produce a success rate of saving ash trees at nearly 100%!
100% Guarantee:
In fact, Tim Back is so confident in this combined methodology, that he guarantees 100% success against the Emerald Ash Borer.
That’s evidence of the high confidence you can have in the technologies and methods employed by Back Tree Service.
At Back Tree Service we are proud to be the tree physicians to the Greater Cincinnati tree service area.
We love trees and care about tree care.

Tim, I talk to you yesterday on the phone about treeage and you mentioned you might need some help this spring in injecting. I am 54 years old and retired as a park manager at woodland mound park. I would be interested in working part time and have a forestry degree and have taken care of turf trees and landscape at woodland. I have my turf and aquatic license and will be getting my landscape license.
Is it time to treat ash trees in Louisville, KY yet. I looked up the infesation on a published map and it looks like as of 2010, they are in my county ( Jefferson) and it looks to be within about 10 miles of my home….my ash tree is at least 24″ diameter, is in a boack yard near power line and would be expensive to remove.
Also, what if none of my neighbors treat their ash trees ( the ash tree is most promient in my 60 year ol suburban neighborhood)…..if I treat mine, is it still at more risk because none of the other trees in the vicinity are treated?
thanks,
Jaime

Jaime,
Thanks for the question and I appreciate your interest in saving the Ash trees.
The Emerald Ash Borer is present in your area. We have treated trees in Prospect.
Your tree will be safe, if treated with Tree-age. It is a 2 to 3 year protection. It will
be protected even if your neighbors do not treat their trees. We treat the trees after leaf
development , usually the first and second week of May.
Hi Tim,
Thank you for your blog. I have 25 ash trees in my front yard and three of them have severe woodpecker damage. A tree company came out yesterday to survey the damage. I suspected EAB and they confirmed. The company said they do treat for EAB, but that my trees are not worth saving at this point. I was told that all 25 trees need to be cut down, even though only 3 of them are showing signs of damage.
I’m very upset by this news, but your blog gives me hope. I’m getting a second opinion today, but I’m curious as to why treatment is not an option even though most of my trees still look healthy.
Any advice or thoughts? I’m in the Columbus, Ohio area. Do you have any recommendations for someone to contact who could help save my trees?
Thank you for your interest. Woodpecker damage is only one sign that the trees are infested. My might wish to wait until the leaves are on the trees so a more accurate assessment as to the level of damage can be made.
There are several good arborists in Columbus that are more interested in saving trees, rather than removing them. My suggestion is that you go to the International Society of Arboriculture to find a certified arborist http://www.treesaregood.org/findtreeservices/FindTreeCareService.aspx
Sincerely,
Tim Back
